Judge Seon Ki Park, born in 1954, joined the Tribunal in September 2004 as an ad litem Judge in Trial Chamber II.
Before joining the Tribunal, Judge Park was General Counsel in the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Korea and has held several legal positions in the Ministry of National Defence and the Korean Army. He was also a Major-General in the Korean Army until 2000. Prior to his appointment to the ICTR, Judge Park ran his own law firm in Seoul. He was awarded the Order of Merit by the President of the Republic of Korea in 1993, and the Chunsu Decoration by the Government in 1997.
Judge Park was part of the Legal Committee of the United Nations General Assembly in 1993 and has attended many international seminars and courses. He studied law at the Kyungpook National University and the George Washington University Law School. He is a member of the Bar in Korea and in the state of Pennsylvania, USA, as well as a visiting professor at the Kyungbuk National Law School in Korea.
Judge Park is a member of the Tribunal's Rules Committee.
